CHARACTERISTICS OF THAI CUISINE
Spring rolls are pieces rolled up in rice paper, filled with aromatic meat-and-vegetable or vegetable-only stuffing. Depending on country and regions, they come in many variations. In Samui, we fry spring rolls first, and serve them with plum sauce and sweet chili souce.
Satay (also Sate) is grilled shashliks with many kinds of meat, deriving from far-east Asia. They are prepared with almost all kinds of meat. Satay comes with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce.
As a matter of fact, Tempura is crunchy skin covering various dishes, most often fish, shrimps, squids, or vegetabls. Before it is served, these products are fried a bit. Best with plum sauce or sweet chili sauce.
Som Tam is a Thai classic, full of distinctive flavoures, palm sugar, bitter lemon and tamarinds sauce, hot chili and salty fish sauce. It all blends perfectly with the most important ingredient, namely crispy green papaya.
